Paly Fiery Arts Glass Sale Fall 2017

Paly Fiery Arts Glass Sale Fall 2017. September 15+16, 2017.

Paly Fiery Arts Glass Sale Fall 2017 showcases over 1000 glass objet d’art hand-blown by instructors, alumni and advanced art students. Find gorgeous bowls, vases, pumpkins, acorns, pears, and more.

I know, it borders on blasphemy to suggest you attend a High School art event especially if the event does not involve someone you know intimately – like your son or daughter. However I saw glass art from Paly’s Fiery Arts program displayed and sold at the prestigious Palo Alto Clay and Glass Festival. I was impressed.

Shop the sale and check out glass blowing demonstrations.

Free Admission.

10 Tips For Kings Mountain Art Fair 2016

Kings-Mountain-At-Fair 201510 Tips For Kings Mountain Art Fair 2016. September 3, 4 & 5, 2016.

My apple tree is bursting with fruit, a sure sign of autumn.

Despite many years in San Francisco I still expect Fall to bring crisp air, jackets, and deep blue skies. Instead the sun is finally making its way back into my yard, my jacket is in the closet, and my grill is smokin’. Bye, by fog.

For this East Coast transplant, sunny days in San Francisco ironically means Fall is approaching and with it the end of the fair/festival season. But it’s not over yet.

Nestled in a redwood forest with some of the finest handmade arts and crafts on the West Coast, Kings Mountain Fair is a lot like the grand finale at the 4th of July fireworks extravaganza – one last magnificent burst of wow before it all fades away.

Free admission.

Your Ticket To Hawaii — San Francisco Bay Area Aloha Festival 2016

San Francisco Bay Area Aloha Festival 2016

San Francisco Bay Area Aloha Festival 2016. August  6 + 7, 2016

Do you know any San Franciscan not grumbling? It’s that time of year. Mid-summer blues. You too?

Maybe it’s the persistent fog, or: the lack of parking; over crowded Muni; the Giant’s slump; or the only available dinner reservations is at 5 or 10. I love this City but I need to get out-of-town. Staycation – no thanks.

But wait…this weekend is the San Francisco Bay Area Aloha Festival. An event SF Weekly named the “Best Occasion to Pretend You’re On Vacation.”

Ah, the perfect (and FREE) antidote to the summertime blues. Bring it on!

Let The Good Times Roll: SF Beer Week 2016

SF Beer Week 2016SF Beer Week 2016. January 22 thru 31, 2016.

Break out the beer steins –  it’s time for SF Beer Week 2016. This (beloved) annual beer extravaganza celebrates the diversity and quality of craft beer.

With a whopping 600+ beer-centric events on the agenda, the SF Beer Week 2016 organizers should offer (1) a replacement liver and (2) self-cloning instructions. One view of the fun-packed schedule and you will see why.

Not to mention that beer “week” is like a Baker’s dozen – instead of seven days, you get ten. And “San Francisco” is really “Greater Bay Area” with events taking place in and out of San Francisco. This is one time false advertising is a bonus. Like it.
