6 TIPS FOR SHOPPING THE CARAMEL CANTINA WAREHOUSE SALE

  1. Come early. Deal Tracker “duh” but worth repeating especially in this case since you can get early access. Go to this Facebook page and click “going.”  This RSVP will allow you to enter at 9 am instead of 10 am. Expect shoppers to line up long before the doors open. If you want first dibs get there early.
  2. Get the perfect fit. Caramel Cantina has taken the guess-work out of finding the right size. Before you go check out their fit guide to see how they categorize their products.
  3. Leave your heavy oversized purse at home. Stash your cash, credit card, driver’s license, and lightweight reusable bag in your (zippered) jacket pocket. Your shoulders and back will thank you.
  4. Inspect. Look for tears, holes, broken zippers, and signs of poor construction. Flawed but still must have it? Consider politely showing the imperfection to a sales person and inquiring if s/he can help you out on the price. Yup, it’s okay to do this. It never hurts to ask and it’s not personal if they say “no.” But tread lightly –  It is a thin line between a reasonable request and chutzpah…
  5.  Ruthlessly edit. Just because it is a great price does not mean it is a great deal. It is only a great deal if you are going to wear what you buy. It is better to walk away empty-handed than come home with something that is going to sit in your closet with the tags on…
  6. Bring a trusted friend. It helps to have another set of eyes to keep you from making any major fashion faux pas – no returns. Plus if the check-out line is punishingly long you and your BFF can trade-off – one waits in line while the other shops.

Have an opinion about this sale? Leave a comment. Your fellow shoppers will thank you.

7 Tips For Shopping The Les Lunes East Bay Sample Sale

  1.  Come early. Deal Tracker “duh” but worth repeating especially with samples since quantities are limited. So if you want first dibs get there early.
  2. Dress for success. Wear a tank top/camisole, leggings, and slip on shoes. This makes trying on clothing super easy. Note: with eight dressing rooms it is unlikely you will need to try on clothing outside the dressing room but why take a chance?
  3. Leave your heavy oversized purse at home Stash your cash, credit card, driver’s license, and lightweight reusable bag in your (zippered) jacket pocket. Bonus:  your shoulders and back will thank you.
  4. Size it up. If the garment you love is a sample ignore the marked size because sizes on samples vary widely and don’t necessarily adhere to convention. So if you are a “medium” and the shirt you love is a “small” try it on any way, you might be pleasantly surprised by a perfect fit.
  5. Inspect. Look for tears, holes, broken zippers, and signs of poor construction. Flawed but still must have it? Consider politely showing the imperfection to a sales person and inquiring if s/he can help you out on the price. While it is okay to do this tread lightly –  It is a thin line between a reasonable request and chutzpah…
  6.  Ruthlessly edit. Just because it is a great price does not mean it is a great deal. It is only a great deal if you are going to wear it. If your deal is “dry clean” only it is probably not a deal. If your deal needs alterations it is probably not a deal. Expensive maintenance and/or a bad fit usually means long-term residence in your closet, with the tags attached. It is better to walk away empty-handed than come home with something you are not going to wear.
  7. Bring a trusted friend. It helps to have another set of eyes to keep you from making any major fashion faux pas – no returns. Plus if the check-out line is punishingly long you and your BFF can trade-off – one waits in line while the other shops.

8 TIPS FOR THE BAGGU and FRIENDS SAMPLE SALE SUMMER 2017:

  1. Timing is everything. Based on past Baggu sample sales expect lots of fellow deal trackers. Come early if you want first dibs. Shop late in the day on Sunday less crowds (but  a smaller selection.)  Plus, at prior sales prices dropped at the end of the day on Sunday.
  2. Early bird bonus. Enjoy complimentary coffee from Lady Falcon Coffee Club from 8:45-10:30 am.
  3. Dress for success. Wear a tank top/camisole, leggings, and slip on shoes. This will allow you to comfortably try on clothes without the benefit of a dressing room. At the last Baggu sale I attended there was no dressing room, just a big mirror.
  4. Size it up. If the garment you love is a sample ignore the marked size because sizes on samples vary widely and don’t necessarily adhere to convention. So if you are a “medium” and the item you love is a “small” try it on any way, you might be pleasantly surprised by a perfect fit.
  5. Shop hands free. Leave your heavy over-sized handbag at home. Stash your cash, credit card, driver’s license, and lightweight reusable bag in your (zippered) jacket pocket. Your shoulders and back will thank you and post shopping you can stash your deals in your awesome new Baggu bag.
  6. Inspect. Look for tears, holes, broken zippers, etc. Flawed but still must have it? Consider politely showing the imperfection to a sales person and inquiring if s/he can help you out on the price. It never hurts to ask and it’s not personal if they say “no.” But tread lightly –  it is a thin line between a reasonable request and chutzpah…
  7. Ruthlessly edit. Just because it is a great price does not mean it is a great deal. It is only a great deal if you are going to use it.
  8. Bring a trusted friend. It helps to have another set of eyes since all sales are final. Plus if the check-out line is long you and your BFF can trade-off – one waits in line while the other shops.

10 Tips For Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017 http://www.dealtrackersf.com/10-tips-for-renegade-craft-fair/ http://www.dealtrackersf.com/10-tips-for-renegade-craft-fair/#respond Thu, 13 Jul 2017 00:20:19 +0000 http://www.dealtrackersf.com/?p=19861

Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017. July  15 +16, 2017.

San Francisco’s Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017 is a curated indie-craft marketplace celebrating all things handmade.

Find 300+ makers selling unique art, jewelry, ceramics, paper products, clothing, body products, home decor, artisanal foods, and more. Plus enjoy: DIY activities and workshops; a photo booth; a DJ; a full bar and delicious eats.

This fair might not fit the dictionary’s definition of  “renegade”  but the Renegade Craft Fair is definitely not your Mother’s craft fair. But do bring her because there is something for everyone.

Free admission!

THE DEAL:

The Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017 is a great opportunity to see in person many of the wares drooled over while browsing Etsy. Even if you have never heard of Etsy you will want to check out this fair for the beautiful handcrafted goods, food vendors, craft libations, DJ sets, DIY workshops, vintage treasures, photo ops, and more.

Still on the fence? Check out these Renegade Craft Fair product pics. These renegades have a lot of talent.

Bottom line: expect innovative designs, fair prices (not bargain basement), and a fun time.

LOGISTICS:

Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017
Fort Mason Festival Pavilion
2 Marina Boulevard
San Francisco  94123     MAP

Saturday, July 15 + Sunday, July 16, 2017

11 am – 6 pm

FREE Admission.

Transportation: Attendees are strongly encouraged to walk, bike and take public transit to the Fair. Fort Mason Center’s pay by the hour parking lot will likely fill fast.  Street parking for those with parking karma.

10 Tips for Renegade Craft Fair Summer 2017:

  1. Timing is everything: The fair is popular so try coming during the shoulder times – right after opening or for the last couple of hours. Budget about 2 – 3 hours to see everything.
  2. Hit the Magbooth photo booth before you start shopping especially if you arrive at opening. This way you will avoid long lines. Don’t forget to spruce up your pics with their fun photo props. Think instagram-picture-perfect.
  3. Be decisive: If you see something you like consider buying it pronto – the wares are not mass-produced so vendors have limited stock.
  4. BYOB: Bring your reusable bag to hold your goodies.
  5. Consider bringing some snacks and water.
  6. Bring cash. Not all vendors accept plastic.
  7. Pet Policy: Only service animals are allowed in the pavilion. So unless your adorable pup is a service dog leave her snoozing at home.
  8. Get your produce for the week: Sunday enjoy a great Farmer’s Market in the Fort Mason parking log. 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Click here for the current summer crops.
  9. Fort Mason Eats: Find good eats at Greens to-go counter and the Goody Cafe. Or have coffee, tea & cocktails at The Interval –  a museum of mechanical wonders & thousands of books.
  10. Post shopping tips: Walk around the Marina Green for great people and dog watching. Check out the fabulous kites that dot the sky. Bring a picnic or go to Chestnut Street for lunch. Bonus: If your partner gets bored, there are plenty of “husband benches” around Fort Mason with fantastic views of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Books Inc Warehouse Sale Extravaganza http://www.dealtrackersf.com/books-inc-warehouse-sale-extravaganza/ http://www.dealtrackersf.com/books-inc-warehouse-sale-extravaganza/#respond Wed, 12 Jul 2017 01:13:47 +0000 http://www.dealtrackersf.com/?p=19846 Books Inc Warehouse Sale Extravaganza. July 15, 2017.

Put down your e-reader and head over to the Books Inc Warehouse Sale Extravaganza for amazing deals on 1000’s of books as well as toys, gifts, and greeting cards.

Everything is 30 to 80% off. Greeting cards are selling 4 for $1.

This sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up for summer reading on the beach (or the couch out of the fog) and gift giving.

6 Tips for the Books Inc Warehouse Sale Extravaganza:

  1. Go early for the best selection. I know that sounds like a big “duh” but based on my experience at other books sales don’t be surprised if you encounter competition from online book sellers. These folks aggressively snap up the most popular titles. And not just one book, but all the books in the title they want. So come early to get the best selection. And consider (politely) asking the (greedy) online buyer if you could have one measly copy of the book s/he took all 40 copies of.
  2. Bonus: FREE swag with purchase!
  3. Expect the sale to feature past season faves, not the latest and greatest (darn!). So don’t go hoping to score a hot copy of the new bestseller. But scour those boxes and shelves – you will surely find several must-have past season gems.
  4. This sale is only at Books Inc HQ. Business as usual at all other stores and online.
  5. All sales are final.
  6.  Ruthlessly edit. Just because it is a great price does not mean it is a great deal. It is not a great deal if their overstock becomes your overstock and lives the next several years in a bag at the bottom of your closet…

Freda Salvador Sample Sale

8 Tips for Freda Salvador Sample Sale 2017:

  1. Go early. Really early. Women line up long before 10 am to get their feet into these shoes. So if you want in on the Freda Salvador Sample Sale 2017 set your alarm – you snooze, you lose (like me and my BFF did at the last Freda Salvador Sample Sale…#NotTooBitter.)
  2. Early SF Shopper Bonuses: Come early and get coffee while you wait. Plus the first 100 people in line will get a surprise. Come late and get disappointed (see above.)
  3. Leave your heavy oversized purse at home. You will have to leave your large purse (backpack, bags, etc.) and large jackets at a coat check before entering. Stash your cash, credit card, driver’s license, and lightweight reusable bag in your (zippered) jacket pocket. Bonus:  your shoulders and back will thank you.
  4. Bring a friend. Take turns shopping and waiting in line. Help each other make smart choices. BUT come together, no holding spots in line. You will receive a wrist band to enter to make it fair for everyone.
  5. Shop smart. (a) Check both shoes to make sure they are both the same size. Expect to find shoes organized by size. However, also expect that after a while of customer “sorting” sizes will get mismatched. (b) Gather up the shoes you like and try them all on at the same time instead of trying on one pair at a time. (c) Scout the area around the cash registers – someone’s last-minute reject might be your hidden gem.
  6. Be realistic. If the shoe isn’t comfy it is not going to get comfy.  You will not wear an uncomfortable shoe more than once (think closet compost.) So choose wisely and ruthlessly edit.
  7. Based on prior sales expect debit and credit only. No cash, no checks, no bitcoins.
  8. Inspect carefully, all sales are final.

6 TIPS FOR PATCHWORK SHOW MODERN MAKERS FESTIVAL SPRING 2017

  1. Timing is everything. The Oakland Patchwork Show is popular so try coming during the shoulder times – right at opening or for the last couple of hours. Budget about 2 – 3 hours to see everything.
  2. Be decisive. If you see something you like consider buying it pronto – the wares are not mass-produced so vendors have limited stock.
  3. BYRB. Bring your reusable bag to hold your goodies.
  4. Bring cash. Not all vendors accept plastic.
  5. Dog friendly. It is okay to bring your well-behaved, leashed pup but only bring your dog if it plays well with others and doesn’t get stressed out in crowded, stimulating and noisy environments where other dogs and children are present.
  6. Wine fun. One of my favorite Jack London Square activity is wine tasting. No kidding. There are several urban wineries around the Square. Click here for the Oakland Urban Wine Trail Map.

And that’s not all. Also on sale are curated items from the closets of four SF bloggers – Ariana Lauren, from Fashion Born; arah from Sassy Red Lipstick, Tamryn from Wannabe Fashion Blogger, and Veronica from Lombard and Fifth.

Expect The Stylist LA Summer Sample Sale to have a mix of samples, or lightly worn apparel from their current line and from past seasons. Prices range from $20-$300.

6 TIPS FOR THE STYLIST LA SUMMER SAMPLE SALE:

  1.  Come early. Deal Tracker “duh” but worth repeating especially if you want first dibs.
  2. Dress for success. Wear a tank top/camisole, leggings, and slip on shoes. This makes trying on clothing super easy. And if the dressing room is full or just way too crowded, you can try on clothing outside the dressing room.
  3. Shop hands free. Leave your heavy oversized handbag at home. Stash your cash, credit card, driver’s license, and lightweight reusable bag in your (zippered) jacket pocket. Bonus:  your shoulders and back will thank you.
  6. Bring a trusted friend. It helps to have another set of eyes to keep you from making any major fashion faux pas. Plus if the check-out line is punishingly long you and your BFF can trade-off – one waits in line while the other shops.
